Costco Customer Returns Rotisserie Chicken, Calls It “Absolutely Disgusting” in Viral TikTok Warning

A Costco shopper recently went viral after returning a Kirkland Signature Seasoned Rotisserie Chicken that he described as “absolutely disgusting.” The shopper, a TikTok creator named Bryce (@brycehammond4), posted a video that raised serious concerns about the quality of the popular rotisserie item.

“I’m so disgusted right now with Costco chicken,” he said at the beginning of the clip. “I just came back from returning my rotisserie chicken. It was completely infected or had some type of disease. I’ve never seen a chicken this disgusting in my life.”

Chicken Appeared Rotten and Bloody Inside

Bryce went on to describe how disturbing the chicken looked. “Inside the chicken is dark red, with some even darker, bloody spots that look more like blood clots than a delicious meal,” he wrote in the caption of his video.

The video included close-up images of the meat, showing dark red discoloration and peeling skin. “I’ve never seen something even close to that foul from any type of animal that I’ve bought anywhere else at any other store,” he said.

Concern Goes Beyond One Chicken

The creator further speculated that other chickens roasted on the same rod might be contaminated too. According to Bryce, the condition of the meat made the product entirely inedible. “The chicken was so bad that the creator had to take it back to the store,” the article noted.

Social Media Reactions: “That Looks Like a Massive Hematoma”

Viewers on TikTok expressed their own disgust and concerns. “Lately chicken has been making me nauseous, this put the nail on the coffin tbh (to be honest),” one commenter, @yamilinga, wrote. Another added, “One of the main reasons I’m a vegetarian is bc the meat in America is so disgusting,” shared @baileyramoss.

Others weighed in with possible explanations. “That looks like a massive hematoma 😭 I know these birds are abused and I don’t like that energy in my body,” said @ange.not.found2. Another user, @akina.em, suggested, “That’s not rotting, that’s the chicken’s bones were mangled while it was alive, so what you’re seeing is the internal bleeding of the chicken.”

Report Connects Similar Issues to Transport Abuse

To further understand the disturbing appearance of the chicken, The Daily Dot cited research from the Slaughterhouse Support Network (SSEC), a facility based in Spain. According to the report, researchers found hematomas on broiler chickens caused by poor handling during transportation.

“These bruises can occur during the loading and unloading of animals in transport to the slaughterhouse and are indicators of animal welfare deficits,” the report reads. However, it is unclear if Bryce’s rotisserie chicken had experienced the same trauma.
