Listeria Concerns Trigger Mushroom Recalls in Two States

The FDA has issued two separate recall notices for mushroom products over concerns of Listeria monocytogenes contamination, a bacteria that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, particularly in pregnant individuals, newborns, seniors, and people with weakened immune systems.

Routine testing in both the U.S. and Canada revealed contamination, prompting urgent consumer alerts in Ohio, Michigan, and New York.

Mushrooms Recalled by Wiet Peeters Farm Products Limited

On July 10, Wiet Peeters Farm Products Limited, based in Charing Cross, Ontario, issued a recall for several products due to possible Listeria contamination:

  • Aunt Mid’s Fresh Sliced Mushrooms
    • 227g flat blue packaging
    • UPC: 0 33383 676005
    • Best before: 25JL04
  • Peeters Mushroom Farm Cremini Sliced
